Spoken Futures & World Poetry Day

Our Spoken Futures project kicked off in January, bringing inspiring creative workshops to students at Oaklands School, Central Foundation Girls, and Morpeth. Leading the way, we have the incredible Hana Jarrah—a talented drama facilitator and theatre director—alongside two brilliant artists: Rakaya Fetuga, a powerful spoken word poet, and Awate, a dynamic rap artist.

Together, they’ve been guiding young people through themes of identity, belonging, and community, using the expressive power of poetry, spoken word, and rap to help them share their voices.

As we approach World Poetry Day on March 21st, we celebrate the power of words to inspire, unite, and spark change. Poetry isn’t just an art form—it’s a tool for self-expression and empowerment. What better way to mark the occasion than by amplifying the voices of young creatives?

Over the next few months, Hana will continue working with the students, shaping and directing their performances, which will be shared with classmates and peers at Rich Mix.
