I’m Going to Make a Friend

I’m Going to Make a Friend is a heartwarming and original take on the nature of friendship from philosopher, debut picture book author, and Global Learning London associate, Dr. Darren Chetty.

Moving neighbourhood comes with many challenges, especially making new friends. How long will it take? Will they play how I want to play? Will they hug me when I’m sad, or give me space? So many questions! But in the end, the only thing you can do is dive in and give it a go.

This newly published book is a wonderful story for primary school children, and has been published alongside a teaching resource suitable for KS1 and KS2 to help open up the book’s ideas into classroom discussion about how we connect with others.

Darren Chetty’s pared-back text explores the myriad of emotions – from vulnerability to courage – that it takes to form meaningful relationships, while Sandhya Prabhat’s gorgeous and magical illustrations celebrate the power of imagination.
