Towards an Anti-Racist Curriculum Tower Hamlets 2024-25
Towards an Anti-Racist Curriculum (TARC) has been funded for a fourth year to support schools across Tower Hamlets. We have worked with over 50 schools already – both primary and secondary to build knowledge, confidence and a brave space for reflection, tools and plans to work towards becoming anti-racist schools.
Our programme is a collaborative and supportive one, we listen to school leadership and educators in how we work together. The Anti-Racist Educator Network from these schools come together termly to share good practice and challenges, learn from each other and build community to bring about positive change for our young people in the borough.
This year we will be working in greater depth with the schools who have been on this journey with us for the last few years and opening spaces for new schools to join us and become part of the network.
There is a wide range of training opportunities, support for educators and SLT, resources and brave spaces to reflect and learn.
Some of the training opportunities will include, these will be delivered by the GLL team, including Dr Darren Chetty:
- Anti-Racist Reading and Writing for KS2
- Being an Active Bystander
- Exploring Biases and Microaggressions
- Exploring Tools for Allyship
- Facilitated Conversations
- Racial Literacy Curriculum Framework
- Scenario Reflection and Skills Practice
